Turmeric ginger morning shot
A small warming shot for stiff mornings, taken before breakfast.
Ingredients
- 2 inch fresh turmeric root
- 2 inch fresh ginger
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 pinch black pepper, 1 tsp olive oil
Method
- 1Blend turmeric, ginger and water, then strain through a fine sieve.
- 2Stir in lemon juice, pepper and olive oil.
- 3Pour into a small bottle; keep refrigerated up to three days.
- 4Take 2 tbsp before breakfast.
When to take: Before breakfast
Fresh turmeric stains everything — use a glass jar and rinse tools immediately.
Precautions & dosage
How much, how often
- Makes 4 shots. One serving at a time, once a day unless stated otherwise.
- Turmeric 1-3 g a day with a fat and black pepper.
- Fresh ginger up to 4 g a day (about a 2 cm piece).
- Take as a course of 4-6 weeks, then pause for a week and reassess.

When to avoid
- Blood thinners (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel) — may increase bleeding risk.
- Gallstones or bile duct obstruction.
- Stop at least 2 weeks before any planned surgery.
- Anyone on prescription medication, pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 12 — confirm with a clinician before daily use.
