Brahmi focus smoothie
A morning smoothie for study or screen-heavy days, with amla for vitamin C.
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp brahmi powder
- 1 tsp amla powder
- 1 banana
- 6 soaked almonds
- 1 cup milk or plant milk
- 1 tsp honey
Method
- 1Peel the soaked almonds.
- 2Blend everything except honey until smooth.
- 3Stir in honey at the end.
- 4Drink within 15 minutes of blending.
When to take: Morning
Brahmi is bitter; the banana carries it. Do not increase the dose to feel an effect faster.
Precautions & dosage
How much, how often
- Makes 1 glass. One serving at a time, once a day unless stated otherwise.
- Brahmi 2-4 g a day (or 300 mg standardised extract).
- Amla 3-6 g of powder, or one fresh fruit a day.
- Take as a course of 4-6 weeks, then pause for a week and reassess.
Allergen notes
- Dairy (milk, ghee, cream) — swap for oat or almond milk if lactose intolerant.
- Honey — never give to infants under 1 year, and never add it to boiling liquid.
When to avoid
- Sedatives, sleep or anxiety medication — the calming effect can add up.
- Thyroid medication or thyroid disorders — may alter hormone levels.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding — skip unless your doctor clears it.
- Blood thinners (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel) — may increase bleeding risk.
- Active acid reflux — take with food, not empty stomach.
- Anyone on prescription medication, pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 12 — confirm with a clinician before daily use.
